Principal's Message

Dear Charles Hart Families,

Each and every day at Charles Hart Middle School we are committed to Leading Change, Challenging Minds and Transforming Lives. We are also committed to developing and maintaining a productive partnership with you to ensure our students can achieve their highest potential.

We recognize that in order to be successful our scholars need support both at home and at school. As partners, we share the responsibility of our scholars’ success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibilities which includes, but is not limited to, creating a safe and nurturing environment while delivering a rigorous instructional program.

We ask you to support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she:

1. Attends school daily, arrives on time and is ready for the school day
2. Completes all homework assignments given by teachers
3. Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills
4. Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life
5. Informs you if he/she needs additional support in any area or subject
6. Knows that you expect him/her to succeed in school and graduate from college

The Charles Hart Middle School team takes pride in meeting the developmental needs of our students. With a wide variety of programs offered during and after school, your child will continuously be engaged in activities that promote their academic and social growth.

Our students are required to take core academic classes that include English, Mathematics, Social Studies and Science. To help diversify our instructional program, students are also exposed to Dance, Physical Education, Art, Instrumental Music, Robotics, Cosmetology, Spanish and Health Education. We believe our rigorous and comprehensive academic program is comparable to that of any school across the city and we look forward to being instrumental in your child’s progression to college.

Our staff and I are working hard to ensure that CHMS continues to grow and our students reach even higher academic heights.

Sincerely,

Charlette EB Strickland
Principal and “Chief Encouragement Officer”
